Charles Moretz Artist’s Statement
I am a visual artist. My principal means of expression is photography and its aesthetic is “seeing.” Sensing visually the world of form and shape, movement and time, color and contrast, and their relationships. Creating a unique “whole” that exists exclusively within the camera frame for only a fraction of a second. And then, voila, can live forever. It is Aestheticism, art for art’s sake, without moral, allegorical, political, or doctrinal purpose. Artistic pursuits are their own justification.
Charles Moretz Biography
Charles Moretz is a visual artist and designer living in Redding, CT. He is the Founder and Creative Director of Genius Loci, an uplifting and inspiring 9/11 memorial design. The principal feature of the memorial is his signature collection of Twin Tower photography. He is also Creative Director of Seventy Acres Landscape Architecture & Design in Sandy Hook, CT. Prior to joining Seventy Acres, he was the Creative Director of GoldToeMoretz, the most diversified sock wear company in the United States. Charles Moretz is a 1972 graduate of the North Carolina State University College of Design and recipient of North Carolina’s Order of the Long Leaf Pine.
